TOWN CREEK, Ala (WHNT) — A former Decatur Field Officer for the Bureau of Pardons and Parole has been arrested on several child abuse charges in Morgan County.

According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) spokesperson Mike Swafford, 47-year-old Joddie Brooke King was arrested on a grand jury warrant for assault-aggravated child abuse. The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles has confirmed to News 19 that King is a former Decatur field officer.

Swafford said King is charged with four counts of aggravated child abuse and four counts of willful abuse of a child under 18. Jail records show that King was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 1:30 p.m. Monday and was released on a $30,000 bond at 3:06 p.m.

The Bureau of Pardons and Paroles released a statement regarding King’s arrest saying it was aware of the investigation.

“Former Decatur Field Officer Joddie King has been terminated by the Bureau,” a bureau spokesperson said. “We are aware a criminal investigation is being conducted by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation.”

News 19 has reached out to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency regarding the SBI investigation and is awaiting more information.
