Which Original Cast Members Are Returning for the ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival?

Nearly all of the stars who played the original Wilkerson family members are returning for the revival. Frankie Muniz is set to star again as the show’s title character, as Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are returning as his parents, Hal and Lois.

On March 25, 2025, casting was confirmed for two of Frankie’s three show siblings returning for the limited-series revival. Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, who played Malcolm’s older brothers Francis and Reese, are set to reprise their parts.

The Role of Dewey Wilkerson Has Been Recast for the ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival

Erik Per Sullivan, who played Malcolm’s quirky younger brother Dewey in the original series, won’t be returning for the revival, as he quit acting in 2010. As a result, Fargo actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has been cast as Dewey.

New Actors Have Been Cast for the Remaining Wilkerson Children

Casting directors had an open book when it came to the role of Jamie Wilkerson. Malcolm’s youngest brother was born at the end of season 4 and was a toddler when the show ended after 7 seasons.

Actor Anthony Timpano has been cast as adult Jamie in the revival. He’s previously been seen in small roles on CBS’ Fire Country and the CW’s Nancy Drew. Antony has also appeared in TV movies including The Hallmark Channel’s An Unexpected Valentine and A Christmas for the Ages.

Malcolm Has a Non-Binary Sibling in the Revival

When the series ended, Lois was seen holding a positive pregnancy test, meaning a sixth child was going to join the Wilkerson brood.

Non-binary star Vaughan Murrae has been cast as Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Kelly, and the character will also be non-binary in the Malcolm in the Middle revival.

Keeley Karsten has been cast as Malcolm’s daughter, Leah. She’s best known for her role as Natalie Fabelman in Stephen Spielberg‘s 2022 film The Fabelmans.

Where Can Viewers Watch the ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival?

Disney+ is reviving Malcolm in the Middle and bringing back creator and executive producer Linwood Boomer to oversee the project.

What Is the Plotline of the ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival?

The show’s IMDb.com logline reads, “Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.” The revival will air across four episodes and does not have a set premiere date as of March 2025.
