Firstly, US Vice-President JD Vance will be travelling to Greenland with his wife Usha today. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s head of the interim government Muhammad Yunus will be meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping today in Beijing.

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to host his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun in Paris today.

In India, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) is set to hold nationwide protests against Punjab Police’s crackdown on protesting farmers. Rajasthan Royals will face off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the upcoming match of the ongoing Indian Premier League.

JD Vance, wife to visit Greenland

US Vice President JD Vance will be in Greenland today along with his wife Usha. Earlier, Second Lady Usha Vance was set to take the trip along with a group of US delegates.

“We’re going to check out how things are going there,” Vance said reported news agency Associated Press. “Speaking for President Trump, we want to reinvigorate the security of the people of Greenland because we think it’s important to protect the security of the entire world,” he further said.

President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the United States assume some degree of control over the self-governing, mineral-rich territory belonging to American ally Denmark elicited significant negative reactions from numerous European nations.

Muhammad Yunus to meet Xi Jinping

Bangladesh’s head of the interim government Muhammad Yunus is set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping today in Beijing. The Nobel Laureate is on a four-day visit to China beginning March 27. The visit comes at a time when both nations face diplomatic tensions with India.

It is to be noted that Muhammad Yunus, since taking on the role in August, has yet to visit India. According to the Economic Times, China has solidified its position as Bangladesh’s primary trading partner, facilitating $25 billion in annual trade. However, a significant trade imbalance exists, with Bangladesh’s exports to China reaching only $1 billion, despite offered zero-tariff market access, while Bangladesh’s reliance on Chinese investments grows.

Emmanuel Macron to host Lebanese counterpart in Paris

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to host his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun in Paris today. This indicates France’s full commitment to Lebanon’s recovery and sovereignty.

Following a telephone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Macron announced the information via the social media platform X. During the call, he commended Salam’s work in conjunction with his government to safeguard Lebanon’s unity, security, and stability.

According to Lo’rient Today, Marcon added, “We discussed the prospects for reconstruction and the reforms it requires. This work is essential for Lebanon and the entire region.” He concluded, “France remains fully committed to Lebanon. For its recovery and its sovereignty."

SKM to hold nationwide protests against Punjab Police

Farmer unions across Punjab are set to hold nationwide protests against the Punjab Police crackdown on protesting farmers. This will include the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), SKM (Non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM).

The decision was made at a meeting of the six-member unity committee of the SKM (Punjab) held in Barnala on Tuesday, reported The Indian Express.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) presented demands that included the unconditional release of all detained farmers and leaders, notably Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is currently on a hunger strike, the return of impounded vehicles and equipment, and the provision of compensation by the Punjab government for farmers’ losses.
