A man has been rushed to hospital after a suspected stabbing saw him with numerous injuries to his head, arms and stomach. 

The man, aged 27, was treated at the scene by paramedics at 1.50pm yesterday, Saturday, March 29, on Woodford Walk in Thornaby. 

He was then taken to James Cook University Hospital.

CSI officers were seen going in and out of a flat with crime scene markers placed at numerous locations inside the cordon. 

One resident spoke of her shock at police being called to the area, she told The Northern Echo that it is usually "quiet".

She said when she woke up she was "shocked" to see police outside.

Police guard on scenePolice guard on scene (Image: TERRY BLACKBURN)  A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1.50pm on Saturday 29 March to reports of an incident at a private address in Thornaby.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews and specialist paramedic to the scene. One patient was taken to hospital for further treatment.”
