BBC Antiques Roadshow star says 'I'm out' as Fiona Bruce admits 'this never happens'

Fiona Bruce was left stunned on Sunday's instalment of Antiques Roadshow after a guest in the audience revealed her unexpected expertise.

Fiona Bruce, the beloved host of Antiques Roadshow, was absolutely over the moon during Sunday's episode, which took place in the picturesque county of Dorset. The BBC programme featured Fiona diving into the 'basic, better, best' segment with gusto.

Expert auctioneer Will Farmer put Fiona's valuation skills to the test with his exquisite personal collection of pottery by Truda Carter, whom he hailed as an 'unsung hero' of the ceramic world.

As Fiona pondered over the vases displayed before her, she wondered aloud how to approach the task of ranking them by value. Will hinted at the significance of the designs, remarking, "There are patterns in here that are so, so iconic to her."

He drew attention to one vase in particular, revealing: "I could say the one nearest me here is the only known example in this pattern.

"The cheapest piece is about £150, maybe £200 on a good day. The most expensive, £8,000 to £10,000."

This revelation sent a wave of awe through the onlookers as Fiona leaned in for a closer examination, hoping to pinpoint the priciest piece, reports the Express.

Seeking guidance from a member of the crowd, Fiona was left gobsmacked when the woman disclosed: "I was a paintress at Poole Pottery in the Delphis department."

The revelation had Fiona exclaiming with delight as she yelled: "I've hit the jackpot!" while Will playfully conceded: "I'm out, that's it."

Fiona couldn't hide her excitement at this stroke of luck, sharing with the audience: "This never happens."

Her luck didn't stop there, as the lady explained that her great-grandfather was a travelling buyer and seller.

While examining the vases presented to her, she admitted to Fiona Bruce that she was scrutinizing the shapes and contours in an attempt to gauge their worth.

Joking about his pretend agony, Will Farmer informed Fiona that he had painstakingly prepared for this segment, hoping to stump her.

Once Fiona made her choices on which she believed were most and least valuable, all eyes were on her to see if she had guessed correctly.

She conceded that she felt quite optimistic about her selections, especially after getting some crowd assistance.

Will commented: "You've completely stooshed me! You are 50 per cent right. All I'll say to you my good friend, had you trusted your heart, trust your taste and trust your judgement you'd have wiped the floor with me."

Taken aback by only being halfway accurate, Fiona couldn't help but exclaim her dismay, lightly chastising the woman.

Antiques Roadshow is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
