Jennifer Coolidge, the Boston-born award winning actress, will return to Emerson College, her alma mater, next month to deliver the commencement address to the Class of 2025.
Coolidge, who earned her degree at Emerson in performing arts, will speak at the school’s 145th Commencement ceremony on May 11 at Agganis Arena 10 a.m., Emerson College said in a statement Monday.
She will also receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
About 1,000 undergraduate students will receive their degrees during the ceremony, which will be streamed live at emerson.edu/live, the statement said.
Agganis Arena is located on the campus of Boston University. Emerson’s graduations are typically held in a large off-campus venue to allow more people to attend.
“Emerson College is deeply honored to welcome the incredibly talented and always funny Jennifer Coolidge back to her alma mater as our commencement keynote speaker,” Emerson College President Jay Bernhardt said in the statement. “Jennifer embodies Emersonian creativity and originality through and through. We are thrilled that our graduating students will hear Jennifer’s story.”
Coolidge, 63, was born in Boston and raised in Norwell. In 2023, she was honored as the Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year at Harvard.
