MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Beijing as well as the upcoming trip of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to Moscow will give a fresh impetus to the fostering of ties between the two countries, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a press conference before a meeting with Putin.
"The chairman’s upcoming trip to Russia as well as your visit to China will definitely give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations," he said. Wang noted that the main goal of his current visit "is making arrangements for Chairman Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia and his participation in festivities in early May." The top Chinese diplomat added that the sides are "moving along the designated course and the preparations underway are quite successful."
Wang, who heads China’s Foreign Ministry (2013-2022, since 2023 until present) and the Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee (since 2023) is on an official visit to Moscow from March 31 through April 2. On April 1, he met with his Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov and the sides signed the plan of consultations between diplomatic agencies for 2025.
