Some people go for a little leather boot or a cool leather jacket, but not Heidi Klum.

The model has long embraced bold, dramatic fashion, and while out in New York City, she took things to the next level in a head-to-toe leather look that felt like an ode to her rebellious spirit.

The Project Runway star looked straight out of The Matrix as she stepped out in New York City’s SoHo wearing a cowl-neck maxi dress from Simkhai paired with matching slouchy leather boots. She carried a black leather purse on her shoulder, though the accessory practically vanished against her monochromatic ensemble.

She then added one more sleek black piece to her outfit to tie it all together: a pair of black sunglasses. A gold band on her thumb added a subtle pop of color, complementing her long pink nails. For Klum, edgy fashion isn’t just a trend—it’s a lifestyle. (It’s a personal style ethos she seems to be passing on to her daughter, Leni Klum.)

Klum’s all-black look was polished but effortless, a reminder that Klum knows how to make a statement without trying too hard. Despite her outfit’s high-fashion feel, the model kept things balanced with loosely-styled blonde curls and relatively minimal glam, an approach she previously told Harper’s Bazaar is now part of her beauty philosophy.

“When I was younger, I never tried to look the way I looked,” she shared back in March. “Now, I’ve evolved a little bit, and I feel great in my skin–way more now than back then.”
