TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The University of Toledo has announced that this year’s Songfest event will raise money for Mom’s House.

The 88th Songfest will take place on April 5 at 5 p.m. in John F. Savage Arena.

UToledo says the event, which has been held every year since 1937, features fraternities, sororities and co-ed organizations all coming together to raise money for a local cause. This year, Songfest will raise money for Mom’s House, a local childcare center helping low-income, single moms graduate from high school, technical school and/or college.

This year’s Songfest will feature performances inspired by participating student organizations’ favorite bands, keeping with this year’s theme of “Battle of the Bands.”

“Being UT’s second oldest tradition, Songfest has a history of being one of the best events of the spring and this year will be no different,” said Adam Fredritz, a nursing senior who will serve as a co-emcee representing the Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society. “We welcome all our esteemed alumni, faculty and students to join us on April 5 in Savage Arena to see our hard work pay off.”
