FLSmidth has inaugurated a new production plant for mill liners and related products in Casablanca, Valparaiso region, Chile.
The company has invested more than DKK160m (US$24.3m) to build the 11,250m2 facility, which has the capacity to produce 6500tpa of coatings. The LEED certified centre of excellence integrates engineering, innovation, planning and production under one roof.
In terms of sustainable mill liner production, the plan reduces carbon emissions by up to 56 per cent in the manufacturing process and reuses all water used during this process.
Mikko Keto, CEO of FLSmidth, stated: “Our new Casablanca mill liner manufacturing facility, which joins FLS’s extensive service network in Chile, is much more than manufacturing infrastructure – it is a statement of our commitment to responsible mining, our mill lining portfolio and the communities of South America."
