Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula commits to Oklahoma

Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula has committed to Oklahoma, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. There are multiple reasons to like this move for the Sooners. Maikkula will head to Norman with plenty of experience and still have eligibility remaining. One for Bill Bedenbaugh to work with this season and potentially next.
“BREAKING: Stanford transfer IOL Jake Maikkula has Committed to Oklahoma, he tells @on3sports,” Fawcett said via X. “The 6’5 300 IOL started 16 games for the Cardinal. Will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.”
Maikkula played high school football at Littleton (CO) Valor Christian, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 829 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Earlier on Tuesday, On3’s Pete Nakos provided the scoop on Maikkula’s recruitment. Oklahoma wound up beating the UCLA Bruins for his commitment. Staying out West with the Bruins appeared to be a serious option but Maikkula will instead head to the SEC.
Offensive line has been a question for Oklahoma in years past, hoping to rework the unit through the NCAA transfer portal. Maikkula provides starting experience from a power conference.

The ball-carrier spent the past three seasons with the Golden Bears. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining as he moves to Norman, and Ott will be hoping he goes out with a bang.
Ott struggled this past season during Cal’s first year as an ACC member, however. His total of 385 yards rushing and four touchdowns across 10 games where the lowest of his career, and he’ll aim to bounce back at his next stop.
Ott attended Norco (CA) High School, where he was a four-star prospect in 2022. He ranked as the No. 322 overall player and No. 24 running back in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Jaydn Ott figures to be a major player for Oklahoma, as they look to rejuvenate their offense during their second season in the SEC. We’ll see if he can come through for the Sooners when the season begins, as he moves on from California.
